40th CR|PROCESS

40th CR (crossroad) | PROCESS is a long-term process of review, deepening, and expansion, slow-simmered and developed at an unhurried pace since 2022, encompassing, as if it were a series, various projects.

With more than 20 years of professional experience, it is an exercise in remembering Myriam Perez Cazabon’s own trajectory: a looking back in order to look forward, or a re-looking. It is also a continuous being and doing along the way.

In 40th CR | PROCESS several elements converge and coexist —like islands within the same archipelago or peaks along a mountain range: the small trace of a long and never-ending period of reading, a main line of research, two collaborative projects, and a creative project bearing the same name. At their core, bringing them all together and connecting them, are shared questions: WHAT, HOW MUCH, HOW, and WHAT FOR.

This process is a journey undertaken alone, but sheltered by artist friends from various disciplines, one that moves through diverse thoughts, actions, and landscapes. It is an act of looking and listening inward, gathering reflections, concerns, and desires across three spheres (personal, professional, and social) and centering on three key concepts: the thinkable body, the sensible body, and the political body.

It is largely about empty spaces and about granting time to stillness. It is also very much about translucent imaginaries of vast, infinite landscapes, about walking slowly, and about travel maps. It is also about thoughts spoken aloud and internal screams; about skin, bones, and flesh; about a vulnerable body, a subtle movement, and a clear-cut dance.

40th CR | PROCESS is a deepening of a research process centered on the plasticity of narrative action, grounded in the use of different bodies, sounds, and materials as means of articulating dance’s inherent communicative value, based on interdisciplinary hybridization. In parallel, it also proposes a humble and delicate approach to the relationship between choreographic creation and writing.

The process comprises five areas of work, developing specific projects and, from these, deriving and expanding new avenues for continuity:
